Origin and evolution of music bands
The first manifestations we have about musical bands were under the reign of Servius Tullius (578-534 BC), where the first military bands were established in Rome. Its main purpose was to get the march in rhythm. These primitive groups had a limited variety of musical instruments, they were only made up of litus, tubas or straight trumpets and Roman whelks.
The role played by musicians in war has always been of vital importance. During the Middle Ages, for example, drums and trumpets were used in battles. Its loudness frightened the enemies so much that they believed they saw the end of the world with the arrival of these adversaries.

The army, during the 17th century, began to use marches for military discipline, so bands became essential. Initially there were drums and then fifes were added, a wooden transverse flute, about 60 centimeters, built in a single piece with six holes for fingers.
Both instruments pointed out the three main events of each day for the soldiers: the reveille, troops and retreat.
During the 18th century, the main function of brass bands was to provide background music for dinners and social events, although they sometimes also gave private outdoor concerts.
